Mr. Allen is a 4th generation San Franciscan and a product of SFUSD. He graduated from Lowell High School in 2004 and got his BA at UC Santa Barbara. He then spent seven years in China, teaching and working as a journalist as well as started the first cross-fit gym in western China.

Upon returning to San Francisco, Matt became a teacher and taught and coached (basketball and baseball) at Galileo High School for seven years before joining BHA.

Ms. Meng is originally from China and has been teaching Mandarin Chinese in the United States for fifteen years. She has designed curricula to engage diverse learners from beginners to those preparing to take the AP Chinese Language and Culture test.

Ms. Meng also teaches Chinese philosophy and the Four Classics and uses stories to engage children to learn the Chinese language and culture.

Mr. Johnson is a sinologist. He is fluent in Chinese and has worked in China in both teaching and business capacities for many decades. He has also translated and published a number of books including "Three Character Classics," "Laozi," "History of China" and "Cultural History of East Asia."

Mr. Johnson has a BA in Economics from Stanford University, an MA in Chinese from SFSU, and an MBA from Golden Gate University.

Mr. Maddalozzo is an IT professional and has run his own IT consulting firm for many decades. He has also taught programming and robotics to primary and secondary students for many years. He currently teaches technology to BHA students once a week.

Ms. Tian is a graduate of the Xi'an Conservatory of Music in China with a BA in Cello Performance. She provides 1-on-1 music instruction in piano and other instruments to BHA students once a week.

Alongside teachers, we have a group of 6-8 students from UC Berkeley volunteering as Teaching Assistants at BHA each week. They are bilingual and bicultural and from China.
